Muslims are
not different from the Hindus—caste inequality/discrimination is as prevalent
and rooted in the society as in the Hindu society. Interestingly, the social
inequality—caste inequality in the form of Ashraf-Pasmanda division—clearly
add to class inequality as all the working class forms the Pasmanda as a
whole and all the propertied and landed class, which historically cotrolled
wealth and power in the form of zamindaari and are still controlling the
power structures as they are on the upper rung of power structures, are in fact
the Ashrafiya. Muslim society is the classical example which shows how
caste inequalities add to class inequalities.
